Educationsense Camp - Workshops, group talks, home education merchandise, and a lot of friends having fun!
The idea of the virtual Camp was that a member of your family checked to see what we were up to each day, and then you worked out something similar you could do together at home. Each day, I suggested some adapted activities you might want to try out with your family and friends. If you see something you like now, why not give it a go!

Wednesday

10-11am
At the Camp: Morning Meeting
At Home: Why not have a family meeting to discuss what you're all going to do today?
11am-1pm

At the Camp: Mushroom Walk with Claudia
At Home: While we're hunting for mushrooms, why not go outside and look for acorns, etc.?  Perhaps there are wild, edible mushrooms growing in your area?  Of course, if all else fails, you're guaranteed to strike it lucky at Tesco!!
11am-12pm

At the Camp: Tots Song and Dance
At Home: If you have a young child, you can join in with us as we sing such jolly tunes as "The Wheels On The Bus".  If your children are older, see if they can remember what they used to sing, and take a trip down memory lane.  Ahhh...
12-1pm

At the Camp: Face Painting
At Home: What will you be today?  Don't miss the pictures in the Gallery, as we were lucky enough to have Tula with us all afternoon, painting faces and braiding hair.
2-4pm

At the Camp: Kitchen Science Experiments with June
At Home: This workshop produced the photograph of the week, showing the children holding up the Flubber they had made.  There are a number of recipes for Flubber on the Internet, but bear in mind that it contains Borax, which is poisonous.  If you have smaller children, and want them to be able to play with goo independently(!), how about making some craft dough instead?
4pm onwards
At the Camp: Fiesta!
At Home: Put on your wildest clothes and make some noise!  Tonight, we celebrate home education!  Arriba!
4-5pm
At the Camp: Communal Meal
At Home: Fancy a barbecue?  Why not invite some friends over, or arrange to have the meal at their house if they have a larger garden?  Yum!
5-7pm
At the Camp: Lanterns with Wendy
At Home: Take one 2l fizzy drinks bottle and cut it in half.  Carefully punch two holes at opposite points about 2cm way from the cut edge, and thread string through to make a long 'bucket' handle.  Decorate the outside of the lantern (not the inside, as this is where you put the tealight!) and hang the lantern on the end of a short piece of cane so you don't burn your fingers as you carry it.  Secure with tape or more string as necessary.  Congratulations - you now have an Educationsense lantern!
7-8pm
At the Camp: Parade
At Home: Take your lanterns out into the dark and make sure everyone knows you home educate!
8-9pm
At the Camp: The Pancake Lady Cooks
At Home: Buffy makes lovely pancakes.  Would you like lemon and sugar, maple syrup, or butter?
9-10pm
At the Camp: Home Educators' Peace Circle
At Home: A quiet moment to send peace, love and goodwill to all our home educating colleagues around the world.
9pm onwards
At the Camp:  A Little Of What You Fancy
At Home: Do something entertaining!
Morse Code

Virtual Telegrams sent from those at home, to the campers in Magicland.

Post box

The attendees were able to send virtual Postcards from the real Camp to those joining us on the website from home.  Did they Wish You Were Here, or Wish They Were With You?!!

Newspaper

Sit down with a cup of herbal tea and read Wednesday's edition of The Magicland Gazette, our Camp newsletter.  It may be old news, but it's no fish and chips wrapper!

Isabel
Take a look at the pictures in The Gallery.  Nearly all of them were taken by the younger members of our community.

Comment of the Day
Shan had covered herself in a clay paste to perform the handfasting ceremony and was due to leave shortly afterwards.  An onlooker said:

"I think there are lots of people here who would have given Shan a goodbye hug, but most of us were wearing light colours and don't have a change of clothes!"
