Educationsense Events - Workshops, group talks, home education merchandise, and a lot of friends having fun!
The Yurt
A list of my past and future events are given below. If you are attending a camping event, please look at my Camping Hints and Tips before you go.

I've been to quite a few camps - in fact, my family spends a lot of the summer away from home. In September 2002, I organised the first Educationsense Gathering and it was a wonderful event. There were enough families to enable you to lose yourself for a while, but not so many that you couldn't get to meet everyone.

The idea behind my home education events is not to monopolise your time for a couple of days, or a week, by over-scheduling workshop after workshop, but to give you the opportunity to meet like-minded people so that you can share ideas, but more importantly, good times. For example, the first half of the Educationsense Gathering concentrates on you and your family, allowing you time to unwind and join in at your own pace; the second half is about reaching out into the community for support, and to help others, with the intention of taking this positive attitude home with you. Home educators can always count on home educators for support, so we need to meet each other!

An important point to note is that my events are not designed primarily for children, but for the whole family. Just as I would like parents to attend the craft workshops, etc., there are no age restrictions on workshop organisers - children are encouraged to run workshops too!

If you would like to join in with the organisation (offering a workshop, for example) of any Educationsense event, please subscribe to the Events mailing list or contact me privately. Alternatively, there is an announcement list to which you can subscribe in order to receive event information (no discussion) by e-mail. There is also a Projects List where we discuss and produce various products and services of use to home educators.

FUTURE EVENTS PAST EVENTS

Here is a taste of what we will be offering. Please bear in mind that the following arrangements are subject to change according to what I am asked to provide...

...And according to what is feasible!

This camp was designed for families of children with SEN. It was a joint effort by The Tapestry Life Centre, The International Symposium and Educationsense.

The Educationsense Gathering 2002
13-19 September 2002, New Forest, England

WizardMore Mirth, Magic and Mayhem than you could shake a pointed stick at!

The theme for the camp was 'magic', and attendees dressed up as Harry Potter, Frodo Baggins, dragons, knights, and all sorts of other magical characters. There were Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings workshops, mushroom walks in the New Forest, music and storytelling workshops galore, and much, much more!

At the same time, those families unable to attend the real world camp were able to join in with our activities by accessing the virtual camp on the website. We exchanged virtual Telegrams and Postcards, published photographs and a daily newsletter, and thus home educators around the world were able to enjoy the camp too!

All the pages have been reorganised as a long term archive showing what we got up to! Make a cup of tea and spend some time exploring the Educationsense Gathering 2002.  If you like what you see, why not join in with the next one?

In case you missed them at the Camp, or you would like to buy some now, souvenir t-shirts will continue to be available for a limited period. Please contact me if you would like to order some.
If you wish to attend any of the Educationsense events, please book as soon as you can as tickets are always limited.  For information about other events I attend with my family, please look at the On The Road page.
